Cancer and Metastasis Reviews Magazine
Contemporary biomedical research is on the threshold of an era in which physiological and pathological processes can be analyzed in increasingly precise and mechanistic terms. The transformation of biology from a largely descriptive, phenomenological discipline to one in which the regulatory principles can be understood and manipulated with predictability brings a new dimension to the study of cancer and the search for effective therapeutic modalities for this disease. Cancer and Metastasis Reviews provides a forum for critical review and discussion of these challenging developments.Each issue of Cancer and Metastasis Reviews is devoted to a particular theme or topic and will contain from five to seven different contributions. In addition, an introductory preface is included from an individual who is distinguished in the field to be covered. The topics and contributors are chosen by the Editor-in-Chief after consultation with various members of the Editorial Advisory Board. Special emphasis is placed on subjects which are of relevance to the molecular and cellular biology of cancer metastasis and tumor progression, as well as to the treatment of metastatic disease. Occasional issues will be devoted to an in-depth clinical and biological analysis of a particular type of cancer.A major function of the journal is to review some of the more important and interesting recent developments in the biology and treatment of malignant disease, as well as to highlight new and promising directions, be they technological or conceptual. Transport in Porous Media Magazine
Transport in Porous Media is devoted to the presentation of original basic and applied research work on the physical and chemical aspects of transport of extensive quantities such as mass of a fluid phase, mass of a component of a phase, momentum and energy, in single and multiphase flow in a (possibly deformable) porous medium domain, as encountered in a variety of scientific and engineering disciplines: chemical, civil, agricultural, petroleum and mechanical engineering, to mention but a few. Understanding these transport phenomena, first at the microscopic scale and then at larger ones, serves as a basis for the construction of deterministic and stochastic mathematical and numerical models that describe them. These models are then used, among other cases, to describe flow and contaminant transport in aquifers and in the unsaturated zone, oil and gas movement in petroleum reservoirs, solvent drives and enhanced oil recovery, heat and mass transport in packed bed reactors in chemical engineering, in geothermal reservoirs and in building materials, spreading of pollutants from radioactive waste repositories, filtration processes, and transport of fluids and chemicals in lungs and other organs, as studies in biomedical engineering.The emphasis in Transport in Porous Media is on theory, laboratory work and (nonroutine) applications. New developments in analytical and numerical techniques are also welcome. Occasionally, invited state of the art reviews are included when they provide a solid background for future research. .
