African Studies Magazine
Rooted in a long tradition of scholarship, African Studies has been under new editorship and the direction of a new editorial board since 1994. With the transformations underway in southern African society and universities, African Studies provides a forum for writing in which metropolitan concerns are transformed and recast in the light of indigenously generated ideas and debates. It also encourages dialogue between scholars writing in and about, different countries in the South.The end of the academic boycott has facilitated South Africa’s re-entry into the field of international scholarship, which has made for a vibrant exchange of ideas between local academics and those from abroad or from other parts of Africa. While mirroring the character of local debate, the journal also aims to contribute to a broader and more international dialogue. To this end, it draws not only on the commitment and expertise of its working editorial board, which is based at the University of the Witwatersrand, but also on a wide range of referees both within and beyond southern Africa.First published as Bantu Studies in 1921, the journal included among its early editors and contributors many pioneering scholars in anthropology and linguistics: Schapera, Gluckman, Marwick, Mayer, Vilakazi, Rheinallt Jones, Doke, Cole, and Hammond-Tooke. International Journal for Numerical Methods in Fluids Magazine
The advent of modern digital computers has enabled applied mathematicians, engineers, and scientists to make significant progress in the solution of previously intractable problems. Indeed, it is now possible to assess the validity of previously unproven concepts related to complex problems. This trend is particularly valid in fluid mechanics, where there is an increasing need to test previously advocated fundamental concepts and to develop new computer-based numerical techniques. Indeed, it is now apparent that new concepts can be tested via numerical methods. The main objective of the Journal Numerical Methods in Fluids is to provide a timely and readily accessible reference for those engaged in computer aided design and research in computational fluid dynamics. The topics suitable for inclusion range from potential flow, through viscous flow (incompressible and compressible) and even to those problems in which turbulence is the dominant feature. Methods for solving ancillary equations, such as transport and diffusion, are also quite relevant.The expressed intention of the Journal is the dissemination of information relating to the development, refinement, and application of computer-based numerical techniques for solving problems in fluids. These include, but are not limited to, the Finite Difference and Finite Element methods, in each of which the manner of imposing boundary conditions to obtain a numerical solution can be quite important. The submission of manuscripts in which the primary contribution is experimental is encouraged, if such results are compared with previously published numerical predictions. Also encouraged are papers in which an established numerical technique is used to study some of the subtleties associated with the physics of fluids. Indeed, even papers presenting closed form solutions directly related to engineering problems and demonstrated to be effective will be published.Although it is not practicable to publish complete computer codes, the salient features of a new code will be accepted as technical notes, which should include examples illustrating the advantage of the techniques. It is envisaged that such codes should be made available at the discretion of the authors. Contributions relating to aids in teaching and design will be processed in a similar manner. . Subscribe to

Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis Magazine
The Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis: Research and Practice is the only explicitly comparative journal of policy studies. The JCPA invites manuscripts that address issues of public policy and related public administration in this unique manner. Submitted manuscripts should analyze competing explanatory frameworks and research methods, test models across spatial structures/cultures/organizations/contexts, and compare different instruments for achieving similar ends. Where appropriate, manuscripts should attempt to depict circumstances in which the domains being compared have certain manipulable policy, program, or institutional variables in common.The journal gives priority to comparative studies that (1) contribute to comparative theory development, (2) present theory-based empirical research, (3) offer comparative evaluations of research methods, (4) derive the practice implications of theory-based research, and (5) use conceptual heuristics to interpret practice.The journal encourages comparative dialogues on policy domains as diverse as immigration, health care, environmental protection, education, security or human rights and, functionally, technology transfer, public finance and budgeting,administrative reform, performance measurement and others. The JCPA is open to articles on any relevant policy subjects. Each volume will also host two special issues per year devoted to topics of significant interest. The JCPA offers a forum for comparing policies, practices and methodological approaches to policy analysis and policy research, and aims to stimulate the further intellectual development and the growth of an international community of scholars in the field. . The International Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering publishes refereed papers describing significant developments in numerical techniques that are applicable to the solution of engineering problems in the areas of solids, structures, fluid-structure interaction, incompressible fluid flow, heat transfer and related areas. The Editors also encourage contributions in the areas of multi-physics, multi-disciplinary and multi-scale problems.Papers featuring the advancement of the theory and applications of a particular class of problems are also appropriate for the journal. Numerical examples that help illustrate the methodology of the techniques proposed, or which verify their validity, are also encouraged, as are descriptions of practical applications.The journal publishes full-length papers, which should normally be less than 25 journal pages in length. Discussions of papers already in print are also considered. Two part papers will be discouraged unless considered necessary by the Editors.
