Civil Wars Magazine
Sub-state and intra-state violent contests have long preoccupied both academics and policy makers. In the post-Cold War era there has however been a renewed interest in the causes, the conduct and the ending of civil wars. Civil Wars will reflect these preoccupations.The journal has a broad academic and intellectual remit designed to be both multi and interdisciplinary. Civil Wars brings together academic pieces on all aspects of civil wars, including pieces on key topics such as why state building can degenerate into civil war, how ethnic conflict turns into civil war, the ethics of intervention and the resource implications of such conflicts but also welcomes historical work on conflicts such as the US, Spanish or Chinese civil wars. Attention is also paid to the questions of why civil wars prove so intractable.Civil Wars intends to operate at a cross section of several disciplines and to address the intellectual faultlines that the study of civil wars cross and so provides a forum for the discussion of all aspects of Civil War. Civil Wars will be required reading for many undergraduate courses in modern history, sociology and politics and, given its broad and policy relevant material, will be of interest to those in government, international organisations and the military. . Journal of Applied Ichthyology Magazine
The Journal of Applied Ichthyology publishes articles of international repute on ichthyology, aquaculture, and marine fisheries; ichthyopathology and ichthyoimmunology; environmental toxicology using fishes as test organisms; basic research on fishery management; and aspects of integrated coastal zone management in relation to fisheries and aquaculture. Emphasis is placed on the application of scientific research findings, while special consideration is given to ichthyological problems occurring in developing countries. Short communications and book reviews are also featured in the journal.2005 sees a merger of the Journal of Applied Ichthyology with the Archive of Fishery and Marine Research (AFMR). This widens the scope of Journal of Applied Ichthyology to include several basic aquatic science issues relevant to applied aspects of fisheries management. These include habitat rehabilitation and biodiversity issues, as well as those of aquaculture: in particular, modern culture systems and their interactions with the environment.Fields of interest: All aspects of applied fisheries research and aquaculture, development and management of fisheries resources, ecotoxicology, fisheries ecology, fish health and pathology, genetics and coastal zone interactions with fisheries, fisheries in developing countries. The merger with AFMR broadens the scope to include basic science aspects in marine and freshwaters resource research, and ecological and economic scenarios that determine the success or failure of any application of biological research. .
