Information Retrieval Magazine
Information Retrieval is an international forum for theory and experiment in information retrieval and its application in the networked information environment. The journal will publish articles reporting substantial research results in a wide range of techniques applied to a variety of tasks and a variety of media including, but not limited to:METHODS: Vector Space; Probabilistic Bayesian Logical Methods; Pattern Recognition; Signal Detection; Machine Learning; Natural Language; Semantic Structures:TASK DOMAINS: Classification; Evaluation; Indexing; Interaction; Retrieval; Routing; Filtering; Summarization; Synthesis:MEDIA: Text; Hypermedia; Static Images; Scientific Datasets; Sound; Moving Images; Multimedia; Multi-lingual; Distributed Systems.The ideal paper may be theoretical, experimental or applied. A theoretical paper will report a significant conceptual advance in the design of algorithms or other processes for some information retrieval task. It will establish the validity or potential validity of the proposed ideas in terms of their relation to already accepted ideas and/or in terms of some modest prototype experiment or simulation. An experimental paper will report on a test of one or more theoretical ideas in a laboratory or natural setting. Experimental papers will be reviewed for both scientific and statistical merit, and will be expected to discuss the limitations and generality of the reported results. An application paper will report the successful application of some already established technique to a significant real world problem involving information retrieval.Information Retrieval overlaps with a variety of technical and behavioral fields. Papers on such technical issues as compression and optimization, and on issues of human behavior and cognition are appropriate insofar as they bear specifically on the issues of methods, tasks or media as outlined above. Variations from these prototypes, such as critical reviews of existing work and significant tutorials will be considered provided that they make a clear contribution to the field. Preference will be given to papers which unify concepts across several traditional disciplinary boundaries, with specific application to problems of information retrieval. . Subscribe to

These changes at the structural level of the global system have impacted upon the work of public organizations either directly or indirectly and have broadened the field of action in policy studies. Policy Studies explores the implications of these changes for both the study and the practice of policy-making. Journal of Modern Jewish Studies Magazine
The Journal of Modern Jewish Studies has increased in frequency this year from two to three issues and continues to attract an international readership. The Journal is interdisciplinary in nature, covering literature, history, religion and social studies. It is very keen to attract work from younger scholars at the start of their academic careers as well as continuing to accept contributions from established and senior scholars. The philosophy of the journal is to take a critical, even challenging, view, that is, to examine, and sometimes question, underlying ideas, assumptions and methods in a way which is radical in the basic sense of going to the root. The Journal of Modern Jewish Studies is not controversial for the sake of controversy, but does not hesitate to question received wisdom where appropriate. There is also much scope for comparative work, for example in relation to the Islamic world, and for modern Jewish literature to be discussed in a comparative context. Each issue of the journal comprises research papers that use a range of theoretical and methodological approaches, and reviews and review essays of scholarship in Jewish Studies. The scope of the European Journal of Morphology covers the entire field of vertebrate structure with emphasis on the developmental biology and anatomy of Man. Social Semiotics Magazine
Social Semiotics invites papers that carry out textual analyses framed by a rigorous understanding of political economy, processes of production and/or patterns of consumption, and issues of embodiment, both race and gender. Papers should be dedicated to exploring the economy of signs in the contemporary social formation, demonstrating the parameters in which texts operate and with a keen apprehension of the political consequences of such operations. Papers analysing textuality in artistic and literary practices, or even in bureaucratic environments, will not be excluded if they convincingly fulfil this remit; but analyses of the quotidian and the sociopolitical bearing of everyday representations will be particularly welcome. Contributions will therefore be expected to concentrate their analysis on the interface of the micro and the macro (e.g. where local significations are embedded in global configurations). Contributions focussing on historical representations should be explicitly pertinent to the present conjuncture. We welcome different theoretical approaches. Social Semiotics is therefore looking for high quality, politically or socially engaged papers that use textual analysis, discourse analysis, political economy, gender analysis, ethnography, or combinations of these, to reveal something concrete about the nature of life in our societies. .
