Teaching Education Magazine
Teaching Education is an interdisciplinary forum for innovative practices and research in teacher education. Submission of manuscripts from educational researchers, teacher educators and practicing teachers is encouraged. Contributions are invited which address social and cultural, practical and theoretical aspects of teacher education in university-, college-, and school-based contexts. The journal’s focus is on the challenges and possibilities of rapid social and cultural change for teacher education and, more broadly, for the transformation of education. These challenges include: the impact of new cultures and globalisation on curriculum and pedagogy; new collaborations and partnerships between universities, schools and other social service agencies; the consequences of new community and family configurations for teachers’ work; generational and cultural change in schools and teacher education institutions; new technologies and education; and the impact of higher education policy and funding on teacher education. Manuscripts are considered for four sections: (1) Research and Scholarship: critical and theory-based research, and scholarly reflections and debate on contemporary issues related to teacher education; (2) Course Descriptions: papers that describe innovative approaches in undergraduate and graduate teaching; (3) In the Field: innovative practices in K-12 classrooms linked to collaborations between college/university and schools; (4) Resource Review: annotations or reviews of scholarly works; print, multi-media, and web-based instructional and professional resources for teaching education. The journal Biomarkers brings together all aspects of the rapidly growing field of biomarker research, encompassing their various uses and applications in one essential source.The journal has enlarged its scope to include the expanding area of biomarkers of disease and now intends to include evidence-based pharmacodynamic markers. Biomarkers, now more than ever, provides a vital forum for the exchange of ideas and techniques in all areas of biomarker research. High quality papers in four main areas are accepted and manuscripts describing novel biomarkers and their subsequent validation are especially encouraged:Biomarkers of disease: covering measurement of endogenous substances or parameters indicative of a disease process and the use of pharmacodynamic and genetic markers in evidence-based laboratory medicine and treatment (markers of efficacy);Biomarkers of exposure: covering detection and measurement of internal exposure to drugs and other chemicals; Biomarkers of response: including measures of endogenous substances or parameters indicative of pathological or biochemical changes both toxicodynamic and pharmacodynamic, resulting from exposure to drugs and other chemicals;Biomarkers of susceptibility:: including genetic factors which alter susceptibility to drugs and other chemicals.Manuscripts can describe biomarkers measured in humans or other animals in vivo or in vitro. Biomarkers will consider publishing negative data from studies of biomarkers of susceptibility in human populations.The emphasis will be on demonstrating relationships between markers and effects rather than methodological papers unless they describe novel techniques.Our preference is for authors to make their initial submission for peer review as an attached word document, emailed to john.timbrell@kcl.ac.uk. The Journal of Early Modern History, established by Heiko A. Oberman, continues with an editorial board consisting of the foremost scholars in the field.The Early Modern Period of World History (ca. 1300-1800) was marked by a large increase in the level of global interaction. Between the aftermath of Mongol conquest in the East and the onset of industrialization in the West, European expansion set the framework for new kinds of contacts and collective self-definition.The Journal of Early Modern History offers a broad audience of historians explorations of different cultures on a given theme, whether in explicitly comparative studies, or by the grouping of studies (or books reviewed). One of the elements juxtaposed in this way will often be European, but not always. In addition, there will be articles dealing with two or more elements of the same culture, or bringing quite different kinds of source materials to bear on the same phenomenon. Its coverage is broad, both geographically - Europe, the Americas, Asia - and in terms of subject matter. Half of the articles will treat subjects which are not primarily European.The extensive book review section in each issue provides an up-to-date guide to the literature on early modern history in Europe, North America and throughout the rest of the world as well as more extensive review articles. .
