Microscopy Research and Technique (MRT) publishes articles on all aspects of advanced microscopy in the biological, clinical, chemical, and materials sciences. Original research as well as technical papers dealing with the various subsets of microscopy are welcomed. This includes electron microscopy (transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, analytical microscopy [X-ray, EELS, Auger, etc.]), light microscopy (confocal microscopy, video microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, light microscopy combined Raman spectroscopy, fourier transform infra red spectroscopy [FTIR], etc.), scanning probe microscopy (AFM, STM, etc.), micro magnetic resonance imaging, micro acoustic imaging, as well as image analysis, quantitative morphology, and all other forms of leading edge microscopic imaging and image analysis. It is expected that manuscripts submitted for consideration will clearly present the scientific question, justify the type of specimen(s) used in the experiment, explicitly describe the methods utilized, employ proper statistics, present previously unpublished data, discuss whether the experiment has answered the proposed question, compare the results with those in salient published literature, and conform to MRT’s prescribed journal format. . Journal of Avian Biology Magazine
Journal of Avian Biology publishes empirical and theoretical research in all areas of ornithology, with an emphasis on ecology, behaviour and evolutionary biology. Preferably papers should test hypotheses or explore new ground. Purely descriptive studies are accepted only when they contain important, new information on poorly known species or phenomena. Papers are printed under five main headings:Reflections are short commentaries (two pages) related to a paper published in the same issue, discussing the implications of the new findings in a wider perspective. Reflections are normally written by editors or referees that have handled the focal paper.Point-of-view are short papers on selected topics written by invited authors who are given great freedom and are encouraged to be provocative and argue their views on controversial issues. Readers, who have suggestions for suitable topics or potential authors, are welcome to contact the editorial office jab@ekol.lu.se Research articles are normal full length papers which make up the bulk of each issue.Forum is intended as an arena for communication and comment, including views on published articles. Forum is also open for contributions presenting new ideas and re-evaluations of published data and hypotheses.Short communications are short papers, in principle not exceeding four printed pages, presenting the results of less extensive empirical studies, biologically interesting observations and notes on methodology and equipment. Critical Discourse Studies is an interdisciplinary journal for the social sciences. Its primary aim is to publish critical research that advances our understanding of how discourse figures in social processes, social structures, and social change.Critical Discourse Studies has been established in response to the proliferation of critical discourse studies across the social sciences and humanities. We will consider for publication papers that meet the needs of scholars in diverse disciplines and areas of study which develop critical perspectives on the relationship between discourse and social dynamics. Relevant areas and disciplines include: anthropology, communication, linguistics, sociology, politics, political economy, education, psychology, media studies, geography, urban studies, cultural studies, management studies, literary studies, history, technology studies, legal studies, philosophy, gender studies, migration studies, ethnic studies and others. We also welcome papers which connect critical academic research with practical concerns and agendas, including those of activist and grassroots political movements.The scope of critical discourse studies is not limited to linguistic studies, or articles that are primarily empirical or analytical. Critical examination of non-linguistic phenomena that take a significant discourse orientation, as well as theoretical and methodological papers that advance critical understandings of discursive phenomena, are welcomed.Recognising the diversity, depth, and history of scholarship in the growth of critical discourse studies, no particular theoretical, disciplinary, or methodological "schools" or paradigms will be privileged over others in the selection of papers for publication.
