Structural Control and Health Monitoring Magazine
The Journal Structural Control and Health Monitoring provides a forum in which survey articles and original research in the field of structural control can be communicated rapidly toward a cross-fertilization of information and ideas. An important aim is not only to achieve a balance between academic material and practical applications, but also to establish an interface between the many topics which characterise the interdisciplinary nature of structural control.The Journal encompasses all aspects of structural control theory and technology. Special attention will be devoted to civil and infrastructure engineering applications, but related fields, such as aerospace and ocean systems, will also be covered. Review articles and original contributions based on analytical, computational and experimental methods are solicited in three main areas:monitoring, control and smart materials and structures. Each area consists of several viewpoints, and it is from a mutual understanding of these that innovations arise, and this Journal pursues those innovations. Health monitoring, health diagnostics and sensor technology are the core of the first area. Passive, active and semiactive control schemes and implementations represent the second and central field. Shape memory alloys, piezoelectrics and mechatronics in general complete the picture. However, actuator design, dynamic systems, dynamic stability, artificial intelligence tools, data acquisition, wireless communications, measurements, MEMs sensors for local damage detection, optical fibre sensors for health monitoring, remote control of monitoring systems, sensor-logger combinations for mobile applications, corrosion sensors,scour indicators and experimental techniques span across the three areas and represent the backbone of the journal. . Biocatalysis and Biotransformation is an international journal covering the application, both actual and potential, of biological catalysts (including whole cells or isolated components thereof, natural and modified enzymes and catalytic antibodies) for the synthesis, interconversion or degradation of chemical species. In addition to papers describing the synthetic applications of biotransformations the journal particularly welcomes papers focusing on the mechanistic principles, kinetics and thermodynamics of biocatalytic processes, the chemical or genetic modification of biocatalysts and the activity and stability of biocatalysts in non-aqueous and multi- phasic environments, including the design of large scale biocatalytic processes. This objective will be accomplished by publishing original articles, as well as other scientific and educational information. These papers will support the transfer of knowledge in all aspects of veterinary oncology, from the application of new laboratory technology to cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis and cure, with the ultimate aim of diminishing suffering from cancer. In addition to original articles, the Journal will publish solicited editorials, review articles, clinical papers, commentary, correspondence and abstracts from the published literature. A solicited Editorial relates to a manuscript in the same issue or a topic of current interest. A Review Article will be a timely, in-depth discussion of an issue. Brief Communications might include case reports, new techniques/technology reports, "images in veterinary medicine" (featured photographs), etc. The editorial board will select abstracts from the published literature for publication. The final decision on publication of a manuscript rests with the Editorial Board and ultimately with the Editors. All papers, regardless of type, will represent the opinion of the authors and not necessarily that of the Editors, or the Publisher. Journal of Ecology includes original research papers on all aspects of the ecology of plants (i.e. in both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems and focusing on plant communities, populations or individuals, as well as studies of the interactions between plants and their environment or plants and other organisms). Experimental papers may use any ecological approach, including molecular and more traditional techniques. Theoretical papers are also welcome, as are descriptive or historical accounts providing they offer insights into issues of general interest to ecologists, but reports concerned solely with cultivated plants are not. Papers should have a broad interest, and reports that break new ground or advance our understanding of ecological principles are particularly welcomed. Standard papers may therefore be short (providing the topic is important and timely) or present more detailed accounts. We also accept short Essay Reviews, intended to promote discussion of a topical area (rather than exhaustive surveys of the literature) and Forum articles (opinions or responses to material published in the Journal or other short articles without data) and publish accounts in the series Biological Flora of the British Isles. .
